If you’ve ever wondered which the three most expensive weddings in history are, it is time to stop wondering and just read the next few lines. These are the weddings that cost millions of dollars on jewellery, clothes, dishes and all sorts of other things. These are the weddings that are anything but not for mortal people.
So here are the three most expensive weddings in the modern history of mankind:
Slightly surprisingly, the third place is taken by the wedding between Prince
William and Kate Middleton. The total cost of the event amounted to little more than 34 million dollars. What is strange about this wedding is that the money was not spent on wedding shopping such as jewellery and clothes. Mostly it was spent for guarding the guests on the event. However, about 800 000 dollars were spent on wedding flowers, something like 80,000 for sweets. It is a bit too wasteful in the times of crisis, where we are, isn’t it?
When we talk about the diamond rings, wedding jewellery and expensive clothes, then we are slowly but surely approaching the second place in the ranking of the most expensive weddings in the modern history of mankind. There we find an Indian couple that combines banking with the steel industry and the result is the wedding of Vanisha Mittal and Amit Bhatia.
This wedding cost 66 million dollars in today’s money, and the money went primarily for wedding temptations. Five-star hotels in Paris, plane tickets for all guests and celebrities to participate in the festivities. The wedding went on for five days and the ceremony was held in a specially built for the event wooden castle.
What the wedding clothes and jewellery were we can only imagine. Anyway, all this is enough only for the second place in the rankings for the most expensive weddings in recent times.
First place is again occupied by the British Royal family, this time starring the parents of Prince William – Prince Charles and Lady Diana. Their wedding in 1981 in today’s money would cost no more and no less than 110 million dollars.
2 million viewers on the streets and more than 750 million on television. A unique diamond ring for Diana and very, very expensive clothes to demonstrate the power of the British Empire.
These are the most expensive weddings lately. We can only guess when the record of Charles and Diana will be broken, because when we talk about the most expensive things, the question is not if but merely when.
Here is another ranking of the most expensive weddings in history.
Whichever is the correct one doesn’t matter at all. In both we are talking about really big wedding money.
